I want to thank every resident for their patience and cooperation during a difficult time last week.  Last week’s storm taught us a few more things about what we can do to improve life in the Village during an emergency.

After Hurricane Irene, the Village hooked the South Gate up to a generator to insure its continued operation during a power outage.  This action proved to be successful last week.  In addition to the Village Office, it is now clear that a new generator needs to be hooked up at the Police Station and Front Gate.  It is anticipated that these new generators will be installed by December 31, 2011.

To assist with cleanup efforts, the Village is allowing landscapers to work every Saturday throughout the month of November.  We are also looking into the short-term leasing of a commercial leaf shredder, due to ongoing problems at the Town recycling Facility.  Finally, the Village needs a comprehensive tree culling program.  I am meeting with a tree company on Tuesday, November 8, to begin a proposal to remove dangerous trees and limbs throughout the Park.

In addition to our residents, I would like to extend my thanks to the following people for their extraordinary work during last week’s power outage:

Jeff Voss, Village of Tuxedo Park DPW Superintendent
Ken Sanford, Village of Tuxedo Park Police Chief
Pat Welsh, Town of Tuxedo Police Chief
Brian Malone, Tuxedo Park Fire Company #1 Fire Chief
Stefan Christian, Sterling Forest Fire Company #2 Fire Chief
Ralph Brooks, Eagle Valley Fire Company #3 Fire Chief
John Kilduff, Tuxedo Ambulance Corps President
Claudia Depkin, Tuxedo Park Library Director

It was truly a team effort, and the Village owes every member of these organizations continued thanks and appreciation.

Sincerely,

Mayor Thomas Wilson
