Tuxedo Lake & Dams Update

To all Village Residents:

I am writing to inform every one of several issues that the Village is currently working on:

As you may have noticed, the Village has been lowering the Tuxedo Lake level so that DEC mandated repairs can be made on the Tuxedo dam, and additional spillway repairs can be completed on the Wee-Wah dam. The plan is to keep lake levels low for at least the next 30-60 days. It is recommended that boat and dock owners monitor the lake level to prevent their boats or docks from being grounded.

In addition, there has been a recent discovery of an invasive weed near the Tuxedo Dam. It is called Eurasian Water Milfoil. This weed spreads when broken into fragments. If unabated, it can interfere with fishing, swimming, and boating. Buoys have been set up to mark the known area of weed growth to deter boat propellers from exacerbating the problem. The Village considers mitigation of Eurasian Water Milfoil to be of the highest priority and will begin implementing a remediation plan within the next 30 days. In the meantime, please avoid fishing and boating near the buoys and the Tuxedo Dam in the Northern part of the lake.

Thank you for your patience and assistance during these repair and mitigation efforts.

Sincerely,

Mayor Thomas Wilson
